The human behind the brand :)

I’m Trace, the sole designer and creator of Earth & Rascal. Just me. In my house. Making earrings for you guys :) I love drawing, doodling, colouring, painting, calligraphy, upcycling furniture, and interior design. As long as it involves colour or patterns, I’m all over it and will give it a try. I’ve always been arty and creative ever since I was a kid. Although I did well in school across the board, if I could have just done Graphic Design, Art, and PE all day long, I would have been very happy! It's funny to think that I get so much joy from creating tangible products now, because it was the putting pencil to paper - the process of sketching ideas, colouring and shading that I liked best in school - I wasn't actually too fussed about the practical side of going on to actually make it. How things change! 

Up until ten months ago, I’d never worked with polymer clay before, but having seen a pair of earrings I really liked, but that were out of my price range, I found myself thinking perhaps I could have a go at making them myself. So I did! Fast forward ten months and a lot of practice and hard work - here I am – launching my own earring business and lucky enough to have been able to create  myself a job where I’m nurturing my creative side and getting paid for it. I’m literally doing something I’ve always loved (just using a different medium). Like a lot of people throughout the Pandemic, I found myself re-evaluating my life, and asking myself whether I was truly happy in the job I was doing (I trained in Social Work). I can honestly say, I couldn’t ask for a more rewarding job doing what I’m doing now. This isn’t supposed to be a motivational speech, but the Pandemic has taught us all how precious and short life is, so go after what you want and do whatever makes you happy! ♡
