My love for bold colour palettes and prints means that I’m immediately drawn to these types of visuals in fabrics, interior design, homeware, art and design, and this is often where I get my inspirations from for my own clay creations. For me, these types of aesthetics speak to one’s imagination – personifying playfulness, our inner child, and that bit of rebellion and sense of individuality we all have inside of us. In my own design process, a lot of thought, therefore, goes into trying to create beautiful bespoke pieces which loudly speaks to our impishness; yet, still manages to exude elegance and taste. My bright colour choices are typically offset by the rich, more subtle hues of a complementary colour palette, or minimalist shape or pattern, allowing my designs to become understated rather than excessively garish. I’m also inspired by natural materials, such as rattan and bamboo, and am often drawn to Bohemian, Moroccan and Mid-Century-Modern eclectic styles, where there is often a mix of daring bold colours, paired with neutral, calming colour palettes, layering of different textures and clashing of prints. As you will see, these are things I like to incorporate into my own designs.
